NJERHS

The North Jersey Electric Railway Historical Society is an organization committed to further the study of historic electric railway operations and equipment. NJERHS will also collect and exhibit data on these subjects, for its members as well as helping to keep the general public informed on said subjects. The Society also works to study such other transportation vehicles and transportation history as are related to electric railways, street railways, trolley buses, motor buses and other related transportation vehicles and systems.

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Rahway, at 1731 Church Street, Rahway, NJ 07065. Meetings begin at 7:30 PM.

Newark City Subway Extension Opens

On June 22, 2002 NJ Transit opened the new extension of the Newark City Subway to Grove Street in Belleville, NJ. The image to the left shows one car inbound and one car outbound right at one of the new grade crossings. Click here for more.

End of the Line for the K-car

It has been reported that the last remaining K-cars on the PATH system are being cut up for scrap. The K-car seen in this rare view above with the H&M (Hudson & Manhattan) logo on a lead car served the New York-New Jersey commuting area through the 1960's.
