The year of weather and lack of sufficient roof panel extension over the letterboard resulted in water entry and deterioration at the edge of the marine plywood roof material and top edge of the letter board. As seen above and below. Above photo 1 and below photo 2.
The clerestory window framing will have to be reconstructed adjacent to the ventilator. Photo 3.
Our current plans call for restoring the roof panels and letterboard in quarters. We have begun removal the side roof panels in the current northwest quadrant of the car. While the upper end of the letter board has some rot present, the majority of the board is solid and may be restorable. Photo 4.
The photo above shows where the other photos above were taken. Photo 1 and 2 are shown in Red. Photo 3 is shown in Blue. Photo 4 is shown in Green.
A new dasher panel has been fabricated to replace the partial rusted through panel that was in place.
The newly installed Golden Glow lights the track ahead for PS 2651 as NJERHS continues to make progress restoring and rebuilding the car.
Seats have arrived. Seen in the fore ground is a full set of seats that will be placed inside of PS 2651. The seating for 2651 is longitude so riders actually sit with their backs up to the windows.
