Restoration of 2651 - Page 2

This portion of the www.njerhs.org provides a running account of the progress being made by the North Jersey Electric Railway Historical Society in restoring Public Service Car 2651. Work sessions are scheduled and this schedule can be found on our Events page. Anyone interested in helping with the work is welcome to join our organization in efforts to restore this New Jersey treasure. We would also welcome the opportunity to show as well as catalog any information or photographs some of our visitors may be willing to share. In the photos above and below you can see the work on 2651's ceiling is coming along very nicely. The left side of the ceiling has been treated to remove mildew that had been present. Also as you can see the interior lights have been worked on and now are once again operational.
Allen Nelson works on sanding a piece of the restored and hardened wood for what will be used as the base for the "West End" of 2651.
Bob Hooper works on sanding wood that will be put back into 2651 to support the folding doors for the "West End" of 2651.

Jim Tomczyk sands the step which has been reworked and hardened to preserve it. Jim is working at the "West End" of 2651 where the end piece has been removed as the platform continues to get some much needed attention.
